[ Rukia hears the knock and doesn't take long to answer the door. She opens it looks up at Mira with a gentle smile on her face. She steps aside so the other girl can walk in. ]
Come in, Mira-san. The tea is ready; I hope you're fond of oolong. My only request is that you leave your shoes at the door.
[ She's only a little nervous, if just because she's met with Rukia a couple times already. Arguably, Rukia's seen her at her absolute worst here. She's still embarrassed about that, of course, but... Rukia is kind, and Mira appreciates that. ]
I've never had a tea I didn't like, including oolong. [ She returns the smile. Just as Rukia requested, she leaves her shoes at the door. ] Thank you for inviting me over, by the way.
Oh--I don't think it's necessarily selfish. It's better than the alternative.
[ And she's pretty sure neither of them wants to become a rock. She takes a seat, hands in her lap, and glances around. She's still a little nervous, but maybe the tea will help. ]
[ Rukia did phrase it as being mutually beneficial, after all. She pours a cup of tea for herself and one for Mira and brings them over to where Mira's sitting. Rukia sits across of her, back straight, and brings the tea to her lips to take a sip. It's a way to occupy some time so she can think of what to say. ]
Have you had any, erm, physical contact with anyone else yet?
I would like to be transparent by saying I'm not normally one for physical contact. It really is troublesome that it's required for our survival here...but I thought it might be a bit easier to initiate it with someone I'm a little more familiar with. Hence why I asked you.
[ Just so that there are no misunderstandings in that regard. Rukia says it with a leveled expression and an equally matter-of-fact voice. And with that...she holds her hand out towards Mira. ]
[ That... actually means a lot. For a moment, she doesn't really know what to say, and it shows in the way she looks mildly stunned. But she shakes her head a moment later in an attempt to recover. ]
I appreciate it, Rukia. ... I'm actually the same way. It's somewhat difficult for me, too, so...
[ She trails off, not sure what to say, before she places her hand gently in Rukia's. She's still embarrassed, so her cheeks turn a little pink. At least she's not so tense anymore. ]
[ She is also embarrassed, despite having done this with Hubert once or twice by now, and it's going to take her some time to get used to it. But hey...money! ]
Ah, by the way, I met Dorothea-san not too long ago. If I understand correctly, the two of you are acquaintances?
[ She lets out a quiet laugh, but... her expression turns a little more somber when Rukia says that. ]
I don't, either. [ She wonders if it would even be possible for one of the people she really wants to see again to come here. This place is incredible, but... she doesn't know if it can raise the dead. ] But... all of the people I've met here have been very kind. It makes things more bearable, I think.
[ Which she isn't used to. She has to keep reminding herself to be more cautious. ]
I've gotten lucky with my encounters with others. I've yet to run into anyone who was rude or unkind.
[ Sure, she doesn't know these people very well, but she'll take this over running into a jerk any day. Still, she isn't letting her guard down just yet. ]
I only wish the circumstances for generating Manna weren't so...bizarre.

[ And an hour later, knock knock! ]

[ Listen, this is fine. Rukia's held hands with one other person here; perhaps it'll be more comfortable with Mira. Who knows... ]
Make yourself comfortable. I'll bring the tea over.

Besides, this is helping me as well.

Rukia's question, while she should probably expect it, results in her cheeks turning a little pink. ]
Oh--yes, only one other person. [ Another sip of tea. ] What about you?

[ Rukia's cheeks are also slightly pink, and she puts her hands in her lap. ]
I apologize if that's too personal of a question. I only wanted to see if you had any more experience in this department than I do.

[ And she means it; Rukia seems to be just as sheepish about this whole thing as she is. Not just this moment, even, maybe. ]
I don't mind that you asked. [ She hesitates. ] Actually... I was a little curious if you'd done anything else, too.

When Rukia mentions Dorothea, Mira nods. ]
Ah, we are. We met not too long after arriving here, and we've spent a little bit of time together aside from that. She's very nice, isn't she?
no subject
[ It all started with a misfired text...and now Rukia may have made a new friend out of it? It's nice. ]
I don't have anyone I know from home here with me, so I've been trying to meet more people. It's been an interesting experience.
